New Leadership at Lands and Mineral Resources: Meet Paula Cirikiyasawa

The Public Service Commission, in coordination with the Prime Minister, has announced the appointment of Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, starting on 30 September 2024.

Cirikiyasawa will take over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a new position after four years of dedicated service in the role.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa previously held senior positions in the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, and the National Planning Office before his tenure with UNDP, where he has been active since 2018, applying his expertise to support global development initiatives.

Chairman Luke Rokovada expressed excitement over Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his leadership skills and strategic vision as key factors that make him a fitting leader for the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will be tasked with directing the Ministry’s strategy and operations, emphasizing innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to leverage his knowledge to foster growth and success within the Ministry.

Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.

Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue to contribute to the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, assuming her new position in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada acknowledged her integral role in the Ministry’s successes and significant accomplishments during her leadership.
