New Leadership at Lands and Mineral Resources: Meet Paula Cirikiyasawa

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has appointed Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa as the new Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, effective from September 30, 2024.

Cirikiyasawa takes over from Dr. Raijeli Taga, who is transitioning to a different position after four years of dedicated service in the same role.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Cirikiyasawa has held various senior positions within the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development and Investment, as well as the National Planning Office, before joining the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2018. His work at UNDP has focused on contributing to global development initiatives.

Chairman Luke Rokovada expressed enthusiasm for Cirikiyasawa’s appointment, highlighting his leadership skills, innovative approach, and strategic vision, which are seen as essential attributes for leading the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

In his new role, Cirikiyasawa will oversee the Ministry’s strategic direction and operations, emphasizing innovation, expansion, and sustainability. He is eager to apply his expertise to the Ministry and is committed to fostering ongoing growth and success.

Cirikiyasawa holds a Master’s degree in International Relations & Diplomacy and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Political Science.

Meanwhile, Dr. Raijeli Taga will continue to serve within the Ministry and will assume her new position in mid-October 2024. Chairman Rokovada noted that her leadership has been crucial to the Ministry’s achievements.
