New Leader at TAF: What’s Next for Fiji’s Telecommunications?

Prit Chand has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Telecommunications Authority of Fiji, effective August 5. This appointment is a notable achievement for TAF.

With nearly 21 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, Chand has taken on various leadership roles that have focused on innovation and strategic development in the local market. His deep knowledge in network planning, projects, and strategy is expected to play a crucial role in furthering TAF’s objective of improving connectivity and promoting digital inclusion throughout Fiji.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica expressed gratitude towards the newly formed TAF Board for successfully securing the appointment of Chand as CEO.

Prior to his new role at TAF, Chand served as the Manager of Planning, Projects & Strategy at Telecom Fiji Pte Ltd. In his current position, he will manage all aspects of TAF’s operations, including regulatory oversight, the development and review of regulatory policies, and engagement with stakeholders.

Chand will also lead efforts to enhance universal service access, elevate service quality, and foster innovation within the telecommunications industry.
