New Industrial Zone Set to Transform Labasa’s Economy

A new multimillion-dollar industrial zone is set to be developed in Vakamasisuasua, Labasa, which will feature 30 lots for various businesses and industries. This initiative, spearheaded by local entrepreneur Edwin Chand, aims to significantly enhance the local economy by generating millions of dollars and creating numerous job opportunities within the region.

Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica expressed that this development is a pivotal advancement for Labasa, highlighting its potential to offer modern facilities conducive to industry growth. He emphasized that as the project comes to fruition, it is anticipated to create hundreds of jobs, catering to both skilled and unskilled labor across a range of sectors, including construction and technical positions.

Moreover, as more industries establish themselves in the area, there is an expected rise in demand for skilled workers, which the minister believes will bring significant benefits to the local population of Labasa. Kamikamica also noted the potential for the industrial zone to attract businesses from other regions of Fiji and even from abroad, bringing much-needed investment to Labasa.
