Damodar Group has announced the opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa town, marking a significant step forward for tourism and accommodation in the area. This hotel is part of the larger Damodar City Labasa project, which represents a total investment of $60 million by Damodar North Pte Limited. Out of this total, $10 million was specifically allocated for the construction and outfitting of the hotel.
Div Damodar, the Chief Executive Officer of Damodar Group, expressed excitement about the hotel and its potential to attract other international brands to Labasa. He stated, “This is the start of a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanualevu,” and emphasized the anticipated growth in local tourism as a result of the Ramada Encore’s presence.
The introduction of this international hotel brand is expected to enhance tourism development, particularly in the scenic areas around Labasa. Mr. Damodar highlighted the hotel’s commitment to boosting Labasa’s tourism appeal, leveraging its untapped potential.
The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-appointed rooms catered to both business and leisure guests. Amenities include a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating, entertainment areas, restaurants, and bars, designed to align with the high standards of the Ramada Encore brand globally.
Looking forward, Mr. Damodar mentioned various potential tourism activities in Labasa, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, lauded the hotel as the first international brand in Labasa and reaffirmed the Fiji Government’s commitment to fostering investment and development in the region.
