New Hotel Promises to Transform Tourism Landscape in Labasa

Damodar Group has announced the opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa, marking a significant advancement in the region’s tourism and accommodation sector. This hotel forms a part of the broader Damodar City Labasa project, which represents a $60 million investment from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million allocated specifically for the construction and furnishing of the hotel.

Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, highlighted that the new branded hotel is expected to attract more international hotel brands to Labasa. “This is the start of a new era of tourism and accommodation in Vanua Levu, and we believe this will encourage other brands to enter the market,” he stated.

The introduction of the Ramada Encore hotel is anticipated to boost growth in the local tourism industry. Damodar noted that this new establishment would create additional opportunities for tourism-related activities around Labasa, taking advantage of the region’s scenic locale.

The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-appointed rooms tailored for both business and leisure travelers. Guests will have access to an array of amenities, including a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating and entertainment areas, as well as various dining options. These facilities aim to provide a superior accommodation experience aligned with the high global standards of the Ramada Encore brand.

Regarding the future of tourism in Labasa, Mr. Damodar mentioned potential ventures such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions. Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, emphasized the significance of the Ramada Encore hotel in elevating hospitality standards in Labasa. He stated that the Fiji Government is committed to fostering private investment and supporting developments like Damodar City Labasa to ensure the region’s growth potential is fully realized.

The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is set to open later this year.
