The Damodar Group is set to launch a new 40-room hotel that aims to transform tourism and accommodation in Labasa town. This initiative is part of the broader Damodar City Labasa project, which represents a total investment of $60 million from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million allocated specifically for the hotel’s construction and outfitting.
According to Damodar Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Div Damodar, the introduction of this new branded hotel is anticipated to encourage the emergence of other hotel brands in Labasa. He expressed enthusiasm about this development, emphasizing that it signifies the beginning of a new era for tourism and accommodation in Vanua Levu. Damodar believes that the presence of international brands like Ramada Encore will attract additional investments in the local tourism sector.
The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel is designed to provide high-quality accommodation, catering to both business and leisure travelers. It will feature 40 well-appointed rooms along with a variety of amenities, including a conference venue, swimming pool, gym, outdoor seating, entertainment areas, as well as restaurants and bars.
Looking forward, Mr. Damodar highlighted potential tourism ventures in the area, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions that could enhance Labasa’s appeal.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, stated that the Ramada Encore by Wyndham will elevate hospitality standards in Labasa, marking it as the first international brand hotel in the region. He underscored the government’s commitment to supporting investment and development projects in Labasa and Vanua Levu, which is essential for future growth and meeting current demands.
