On a recent Saturday, the new health center was inaugurated in Dago, Nananu, Tailevu, by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, a significant achievement since the project’s initiation in 2017.
The facility was funded with substantial support from the New Zealand government, which contributed NZ$472,895 to enhance healthcare services and improve the infrastructure. This new health center is expected to benefit approximately 8,000 residents from the surrounding areas of Dawasamu, Namena, and Sawakasa, providing them with essential medical services.
Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of maintaining proper healthcare for the wellbeing of the community and underscored the critical role that health services play in public life. The establishment of this center is also expected to improve healthcare access for students from nearby schools, such as Ratu Kadavulevu School and Queen Victoria School.
Charlotte Darlow from the New Zealand government reiterated their commitment to continuing assistance to Fiji in improving healthcare services for the local population. The focus is on ensuring that the community has ongoing access to quality health care to address various health challenges.
