An investment of $75 million is being directed towards the construction of the Hilton Garden Inn in Suva, which is set to enhance accommodation options in the capital city. The hotel is scheduled to open in August 2025 and will feature 179 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, a fully equipped gym, and a pool along the Suva foreshore.

This project is part of Carpenters Properties Limited’s $75 million investment strategy, which includes two hotels and an apartment building at the same location, initiated in 2018. During the ‘Topping Off’ ceremony held on Thursday, Hilton area vice president Paul Hutton highlighted that the new property would not only increase hotel space quality but also attract more conferences to Suva.

The hotel will consist of a six-storey building, with a portion of the rooms completed before the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister for Finance Biman Prasad attended the ceremony and emphasized the hotel’s strategic position in Suva, enhancing the city’s appeal as a dynamic hub.

Prasad noted that the Hilton Garden Inn would cater to the needs of international tourists as well as accommodate the growing business travel, non-governmental organizations, and diplomatic activities in Fiji. He stated, “This new hotel will undoubtedly attract more visitors to Suva, create new jobs, and stimulate surrounding businesses, contributing to a ripple effect that will benefit the wider community.”

Carpenters Fiji Limited’s retail and marketing director, Kunaseelan Sabaratnam, mentioned that the Hilton Garden Inn would help establish Suva as a diplomatic center in the Pacific region. He also stated that the project would create numerous jobs across various sectors, from construction to hospitality, thereby enhancing local employment opportunities and attracting more tourists seeking modern amenities and experiences. Sabaratnam expressed gratitude to the Hilton Inn board for choosing to invest in Fiji, particularly in the Suva area.
