The opening of the Sun Centre 2 in Legalega, Nadi, has been hailed as a remarkable achievement that underscores the power of collaboration, according to Padam Lala, the board chairman of Sun Insurance Ltd. Celebrating the completion of this facility last week, Lala acknowledged the invaluable partnership with local landowners that made the project possible.
The Sun Centre 2, which represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure, aims to extend vital medical services not only to the people of Fiji but also to international visitors, highlighting Fiji’s commitment to high-quality healthcare. Lala noted, “We are gathered here not just to celebrate the completion of the building but the beginning of something much bigger.”
A notable aspect of the new center is its two floors dedicated to the production of essential medicines, a move that aims to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for Fijians and Pacific Islanders alike.
Parvish Kumar, founder and CEO of Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals, emphasized the center’s role in establishing Nadi as a hub for healthcare in the Pacific. He expressed optimism for future partnerships with Sun Insurance, which will further enhance medical services in the region.
Ratu Ponijese Lou, a representative of the Taukei Naua (Chief of Saunaka Village), praised the project, emphasizing that it will significantly improve healthcare access, reducing the need for residents to seek medical treatment abroad.
This development comes on the heels of recent investments in healthcare, such as the opening of a new health facility in Dago, Nananu, Tailevu, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. That center received generous funding from the New Zealand government and aims to improve health services for approximately 8,000 residents in its surrounding communities.
Overall, the advent of both the Sun Centre 2 and other health initiatives reflects a broader commitment to enhancing healthcare access in Fiji, reaffirming the importance of collaborative efforts to drive progress. The community can look forward to improved health outcomes and enhanced quality of life as these initiatives take root.
