The newly established health facility in Dago, Nananu, Tailevu, was officially opened under the leadership of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, marking a significant milestone since its construction began in 2017. This project has received substantial support from the New Zealand government, which contributed $472,895 to enhance hospital services and facilities.
Approximately 8,000 residents from the Dawasamu, Namena, and Sawakasa regions in Vualiku and Tailevu are expected to benefit from the services provided by this new hospital. Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of ensuring the healthcare needs of the population are prioritized, and the facility will play a crucial role in improving access to health services.
The hospital will also ease the healthcare service delivery for students from Ratu Kadavulevu School and Queen Victoria School located nearby. Both the Ministry of Health and the New Zealand government have expressed their commitment to continuously providing quality services to the community.
Charlotte Darlow, representing the New Zealand government, highlighted the need for the facility to be effectively utilized, especially given the health challenges faced by the population.
This initiative is a hopeful step towards fostering better health outcomes and enhancing the healthcare infrastructure in the region, illustrating the positive impact of international cooperation on local communities.
The new health center not only symbolizes improvement in healthcare services but also stands as a testament to the strong relationship between Fiji and New Zealand, aiming for a healthier future for the residents.
