The new community health facility located in Dago, Nananu, Tailevu, was officially opened this week by the Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka, following funding received in 2017. The government of New Zealand contributed $472,895 to support the enhancement of hospital services in the region.
Approximately 8,000 residents from areas such as Dawasamu, Namena, and Sawakasa in Vualiku and Tailevu are expected to benefit from the healthcare services provided at this new facility. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of protecting the health and welfare of the population through quality healthcare provisions.
The establishment of this facility is anticipated to also improve health services for students attending Ratu Kadavulevu School and Queen Victoria School and other nearby educational institutions.
Charlotte Darlow from the New Zealand government expressed a commitment to continue offering support to Fiji in enhancing health services that will ultimately contribute to the well-being of the local communities.
