The French Embassy in Fiji has announced the appointment of Julie Le Saos as the new French Ambassador to the country. Ambassador Le Saos arrived in Fiji on September 3 and presented her credentials to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House in Suva last week.
Le Saos expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve as ambassador, emphasizing the importance of Fiji as a partner for France. She stated, “Fiji is an important partner for France. Together with Fiji, France shares the same willingness to contribute positively to a peaceful, prosperous and resilient Pacific region and to a sustainable future of our planet.”
She pledged her personal commitment, along with that of her team at the French Embassy, to enhance and strengthen the relations between Fiji and France.
Before her role in Fiji, Le Saos was the Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Australia. Her previous experience includes serving as Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in the United States from 2016 to 2020, as well as positions at the Strategic, Security and Disarmament Department from 2013 to 2016 and the United Nations and International Organizations Department from 2012 to 2013 within the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, she worked at the French Embassy in Japan from 2010 to 2012.
Ambassador Le Saos holds degrees from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the Institut des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO).
