The French Embassy in Fiji has announced that Julie Le Saos has been appointed as the new French Ambassador to Fiji. Ambassador Le Saos arrived in the country on September 3 and presented her credentials to Fiji’s President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, at the State House in Suva last week.
In her remarks, Ms. Le Saos expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this role, emphasizing the importance of Fiji as a partner for France. She stated, “Fiji is an important partner for France. Together with Fiji, France shares the same willingness to contribute positively to a peaceful, prosperous and resilient Pacific region and to a sustainable future of our planet.”
She also noted her eagerness to learn from Fiji and affirmed her commitment, along with that of the French Embassy team, to strengthen the relations between Fiji and France.
Before her appointment in Fiji, Ms. Le Saos was the deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Australia. Her previous roles include serving as Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in the United States (2016-2020) and working in various departments at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Strategic, Security and Disarmament and the United Nations and International Organizations Department.
Ms. Le Saos holds degrees from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the Institut des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO).
