Vuate Karawalevu, a fresh addition to the Fijian Drua rugby team, is thrilled about his transition to one of the nation’s premier rugby clubs. The 23-year-old player hails from Dravuwalu Village in Kadavu and joined the Drua after a stint with the Waratahs. He attributes his move to a higher power and believes that his dedication and hard work have finally been recognized.
Reflecting on his journey, Karawalevu shared, “I started with the Waratahs but wasn’t selected. However, I believe that God sees those who are diligent.” He expressed gratitude for the timing of his transition, highlighting that it was a decision supported by his parents, who felt it would be beneficial for him to return home and play for the Drua.
Karawalevu has quickly acclimated to his new environment, stating, “It feels like home.” He has reconnected with many teammates from previous Flying Fijians tours and shared experiences from his days in high school and with the Fiji Schoolboys.
Regarding his playing position, Karawalevu is versatile and comfortable playing anywhere in the back three. “I enjoy playing fullback, but I’m also open to playing wing; I’m ready for whatever challenges come my way,” he remarked.
