A significant milestone in student leadership was achieved last Sunday with the formal induction of the 2026 prefects from both Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School during separate ceremonies led by Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro.
In his address to the newly appointed student leaders, Minister Radrodro stressed that leadership is fundamentally a role of trust and should be anchored in discipline, integrity, and service. He affirmed that their appointments were earned through merit, urging the prefects to guide their peers with humility, respect, and a robust sense of responsibility.
“True leadership is built on good character and a heart for service,” Radrodro remarked, encouraging the students to embody positive examples within their school communities. He also addressed the pressing issues of bullying and misconduct, highlighting the necessity of preserving safe and drug-free learning environments, reiterating that student leaders are pivotal in upholding school values and promoting mutual respect.
Additionally, the minister recognized the essential contributions of teachers, parents, and guardians, emphasizing that education is a collaborative effort that starts at home. He further underscored the significance of instilling faith and strong moral principles, which are vital in cultivating responsible and principled leaders for the future.
The induction ceremonies mark an encouraging step forward in promoting leadership qualities among students, with the hope that these young leaders will inspire their peers and contribute positively to their school cultures.
