Koli Sewabu has officially taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Rugby Union, marking a new chapter for the organization. One of his primary focuses is to revamp Rugby House, aiming to enhance efficiency and professionalism within the union.

Sewabu highlights the necessity for improved behind-the-scenes operations, along with better performance on the field. He pointed out that a previous strategic plan lacked formal endorsement, which has prompted the development of a new 10-year strategic plan that is currently awaiting board approval.

Once the new strategy is approved, Sewabu plans to implement significant changes to improve management, governance, and operations at the union. “We will be having a lot of new changes in the coming weeks, with regards to the structures, the systems, and the people. So there will be some new appointments that will come up as part of the new change,” he stated.

In addition to organizational restructuring, Sewabu has ambitious plans to conduct nationwide visits and audits of member unions. These initiatives aim to elevate standards in crucial areas such as governance, coaching, training, education, accreditation, and adherence to participation rules.

This proactive approach suggests a promising future for Fiji Rugby, demonstrating Sewabu’s commitment to fostering a stronger and more effective union. By prioritizing structure and accountability, the organization is paving the way for improved performance, both on and off the field.
