Barbara Malimali has been named the new Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). FICAC announced that her appointment was made through the Judicial Services Commission and has been officially endorsed by the President.

According to section 5(1) of the FICAC Act 2007, the Commissioner is appointed by the President following a recommendation from the Judicial Services Commission, which also consults with the Attorney-General.

In a separate development, FICAC confirmed that they conducted a raid at the Election Commission, during which documents related to an investigation into Chairperson Barbara Malimali were seized. Malimali is currently facing allegations of abuse of office.
