Seven Members of Parliament from the opposition’s Group of 9 will be officially sworn in as Ministers today. The ceremony is scheduled for 11 am at the State House.
In line with the new roles, Group leader Ioane Naivalurua, alongside Viliame Naupoto and Mosese Bulitavu, will assume significant ministerial positions. Naivalurua, a former Police Commissioner, is expected to take charge of the Minister for Police portfolio, while Naupoto is set to oversee Immigration and Bulitavu will handle Climate Change. These portfolios have been previously managed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Additionally, Aliki Bia is anticipated to take on the Assistant Minister for Information role, while Penioni Ravunawa will become the Assistant Minister for Health. Ratu Josaia Niudamu will be appointed as the Assistant Minister for Justice, and former LTA CEO Naisa Tuinaceva will serve as the Assistant Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.
