The French Embassy in Fiji has announced the appointment of Julie Le Saos as the new French Ambassador to Fiji. Ambassador Le Saos arrived in Fiji on September 3 and recently presented her credentials to the President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, at the State House in Suva.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Ms. Le Saos emphasized the importance of Fiji as a partner for France. She stated, “Fiji is an important partner for France. Together with Fiji, France shares the same willingness to contribute positively to a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient Pacific region and to a sustainable future of our planet.”
Ms. Le Saos pledged her commitment, along with the French Embassy team, to enhance and strengthen relations between Fiji and France. Prior to her appointment in Fiji, she served as the deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of France in Australia.
Her previous experience includes roles as Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in the United States from 2016 to 2020, as well as positions within the Strategic, Security, and Disarmament Department and the United Nations and International Organizations Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also worked at the French Embassy in Japan from 2010 to 2012.
Ms. Le Saos holds degrees from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the Institut des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO).
