A new champion will emerge in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend, following the exit of the reigning champions Ba. Ba faced Rewa in their final group match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Coached by Timoci Seru, Ba had a lackluster performance in the tournament, accruing only two points and scoring just one goal across three matches. Leading up to this match, Ba needed to secure a victory by at least two goals to advance.
Rewa took an early lead with a free-kick from Patrick Joseph in the third minute, but Ba equalized shortly after, with Nabil Begg scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute.
As a result of this draw, Nadi has secured a place in the semifinals, which are set for Saturday. Rewa, sponsored by Extra Supermarket, advances as the winner of Group B and will compete in the second semifinal, while Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi qualifies as the runner-up and will participate in the first semifinal.
