Eci Tekuru Naisele has been appointed as the new director of the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC), as announced by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, during a recent press conference at the commission’s headquarters in Suva. Dr. Naisele, who hails from Qoma Island in Tailevu, brings over three decades of experience in the education sector, including significant roles as a classroom teacher, head of department, and senior education officer.
He holds a PhD from Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi in New Zealand and received the Outstanding Indigenous Research Award in 2023, underscoring his commitment to indigenous education and research. Minister Radrodro praised Dr. Naisele as a visionary leader whose appointment marks a strategic decision aimed at shaping the future of higher education in Fiji.
