The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad highlighted that the launch signifies the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a common vision for social, economic, and political growth.
Mr. Prasad emphasized the country’s potential for becoming prosperous in the next 25 to 30 years, provided that there is a shift from the status quo. He noted the importance of political stability, consistent policies, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable governance approach.
The Ministry of Finance is taking the lead on the NDP, which will build upon the results from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the Education Summit outcomes.
Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the government would establish a legacy of political culture and leadership that encourages peaceful, transparent, and accountable transitions between administrations.
