In a historic event held in Fiji, Roko Tevita Uluilakeba Mara has been ceremonially appointed as the new Tui Nayau, a title of significant cultural and spiritual importance for the Lau Group. The instatement took place at dawn on Nayau Island, where Roko Ului was honored through a fusion of ancient ceremonies and religious rituals led by Archbishop Peter Loy Chong. Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, President of the Methodist Church in Fiji, also participated, crowning him with a traditional masi while presenting him with a Bible to symbolize his divine appointment.
This moment marks the revival of the Tui Nayau title, which has been vacant since the passing of Roko Ului’s father, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, in 2004.
