The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is scheduled to convene on December 19 to finalize the selection of the next Commissioner of Police. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who also serves as the Chairperson of the COC.
Rabuka disclosed that a special selection panel has been tasked with shortlisting candidates and making recommendations for this important role. However, he indicated that he is not privy to the names on the shortlist, as this information is maintained by the COC Secretariat.
The appointment will be formally confirmed by His Excellency the President, based on the Prime Minister’s advice.
This upcoming meeting represents a significant step in ensuring strong leadership within the police force, which is vital for maintaining public safety and trust in law enforcement. As the process moves forward, it is hoped that the selected candidate will bring a fresh perspective and commitment to the role, contributing positively to the community and strengthening ties between the police and the public they serve.
