New Coach on the Horizon for Fijiana Rugby Sevens!

Fiji Rugby Union will appoint a new head coach for the Fijiana women’s rugby sevens team by early 2025. Interim Trustees chairman Peter Mazey announced that the search for a head coach will begin soon, following the end of Saiasi Fuli’s contract in December. Mazey indicated that the position will be publicly advertised within the next week.

The goal is to find a candidate who can lead the women’s sevens team into its next phase, focusing on high-performance strategies and team selection. Currently, all women’s sevens player contracts have expired after the Olympics, except for Younis Bese and Heleina Young, who remain under contract until the end of the year.

Fuli expressed gratitude for the opportunity to coach the national team, reflecting on the challenges he faced transitioning from a men’s coaching background and the journey he experienced over the past five years.

In other news, Osea Kolinisau will remain as the head coach of the Fiji men’s sevens rugby team for another four years. Mazey praised Kolinisau’s performance in recent months, noting his plans for the future. Kolinisau’s primary objective is to secure a gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
