Students at Nakorotubu Secondary School in Rakiraki are set to benefit from enhanced learning conditions as two new classrooms were recently constructed, funded by the Ministry of Education at a cost of $49,000. This addition comes in response to a significant rise in student enrollment, from 71 in 2024 to 107 this year, and is aimed at easing overcrowding and providing a more conducive environment for both students and teachers.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro, who inaugurated the new classrooms, expressed that this initiative is part of the Coalition Government’s broader effort to improve educational infrastructure across Fiji. He noted the importance of modern and well-maintained school facilities in fostering effective learning atmospheres.

As part of his visit, Radrodro also donated a full set of Agriculture Science and gardening equipment, valued at approximately $2,300, to support the school’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program. This equipment is intended to enhance hands-on learning experiences, enabling students to acquire practical skills in farming, gardening, and agri-entrepreneurship.

Radrodro praised the hard work and dedication of teachers in rural schools like Nakorotubu, emphasizing the value of parental involvement and community support in contributing to the success of students. He highlighted that these developments not only represent a commitment to educational advancement but also provide hope for future generations by equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

Similar educational enhancements have been observed at other institutions throughout Fiji, reflecting a national commitment to improving learning environments and ensuring that students receive a quality education. This ongoing investment underscores a positive trajectory for education in Fiji, fostering optimism for the future of its young learners.
