A new champion will emerge in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League U19 grade as Ra High School Roosters staged a thrilling 24-20 upset against the defending champions, Naitasiri Warriors, in the semi-finals held at Garvey Park in Tavua. The Roosters demonstrated tactical prowess from the beginning, blending structured offensive plays with robust defense to dismantle the reigning title holders. They maintained relentless pressure throughout the match, managing to fend off a late surge by Naitasiri to claim victory.

In the second U19 semi-final, Ba Pro Dragons secured their spot in the finals by defeating RKS Eels with a narrow 14-10 victory. The Dragons capitalized on their powerful forward pack and effective tactical kicking, controlling both territory and game tempo, ultimately withstanding frantic attempts from RKS to turn the game around.

The competitive spirit continued to shine in the U17 division, where the Sigatoka Valley Cowboys edged past Marist Storm with a close 12-10 win, while Ba Pro’s U17 team ensured a double celebration by overcoming the Nasinu Panthers with a score of 20-16.

As both Ra High and Ba Pro advance to the finals, the upcoming match promises to be an all-Western affair, highlighting the continued dominance of Western schools in the league. The excitement doesn’t end there; the finals, set to take place next Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, is anticipated to feature fast-paced action and showcase the talents of emerging rugby stars.

This event represents not only a thrilling moment for the players and schools involved but also fosters community pride and engagement in youth sports. The narrative of young athletes rising to the occasion offers hope and inspiration for the future of rugby in Fiji, emphasizing the role of school sports in cultivating competitive spirit and teamwork among the youth. Fans are encouraged to rally in support, as the performances on display are sure to inspire the next generation of players.
