A new champion will be determined at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend after the defending champions, Ba, were eliminated following a 1-1 draw against Rewa in their final group match. Under the guidance of coach Timoci Seru, Ba had a disappointing tournament, securing only two points and managing to score just one goal across three matches.
Entering the match, Ba needed to win by a margin of two goals to progress. However, Rewa took an early lead thanks to a free-kick from Patrick Joseph in the third minute. Ba equalized shortly thereafter when Nabil Begg converted a penalty in the 11th minute.
As a result of this match, Nadi has advanced to the semifinals scheduled for Saturday. Rewa, backed by Extra Supermarket, has secured their place in the semifinals as the winners of Group B and will compete in the second semifinal. Meanwhile, Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi, finishing as the group runner-up, will participate in the first semifinal.
