This year will see a new champion crowned in the Vodafone Cup, as last year’s titleholder, the Saru Dragons, has been eliminated from the competition following the semi-finals.

In a surprising turn of events, the Navy Albatross defeated the Saru Dragons with a score of 27-18 in the final quarter-final match held at Lawaqa Park over the weekend.

Other quarter-final outcomes included the Vusu Raiders overcoming the Topline Warriors 30-20, the Waitaci Titans edging out the Nadera Panthers 32-28, and the Ravoravo Rabbitohs securing victory over the Laselase Cowboys with a score of 24-18.

Vusu Raiders team manager Solomoni Tuqiri acknowledged the challenges ahead. “The semi-final stage is different, and we will go back and regroup to come back stronger in the semi-final against Ravoravo Rabbitohs,” he stated.

The upcoming semi-final matches will feature the Vusu Raiders facing off against the Ravoravo Rabbitohs, while the Navy will take on the Waitaci Titans in the other semi-final clash.
