Digicel Pacific has announced the appointment of Steve Long as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Hub Markets, which includes operations in Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Nauru. Long brings an impressive 18 years of telecommunications experience, having spent the last eight years in senior executive positions at Telstra, where he oversaw various segments such as Consumer, Business, and Wholesale.

His diverse background in both challenger and market-leading telecom companies has prepared him well to steer Digicel Pacific’s growth amidst the competitive landscape of the Pacific markets. Roary Stasko, CEO of Telstra International, expressed strong support for Long’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and enthusiasm as invaluable assets for Digicel Pacific’s ongoing success.

Long himself emphasized his commitment to engaging with the communities across the Pacific. “I’m passionate about telecommunications because we play such a critical role in connecting people, communities, and businesses,” he stated. His eagerness to learn from the vibrant cultures within the region reflects a proactive approach that could enhance collaboration between Digicel and local stakeholders.

This leadership transition comes in the wake of Shally Jannif’s notable 12-year tenure, in which she successfully drove growth and left a lasting impact on the organization. The change in leadership can be seen as an opportunity for fresh ideas and innovation as Long steps into his role, potentially continuing the momentum built by his predecessor.

The telecommunications industry in the Pacific is facing a dynamic shift, and with leaders like Long at the helm, there is a hopeful outlook for improvements in connectivity and services throughout the region. His extensive experience and energetic vision can provide a robust foundation for fostering stronger relationships and enhancing customer experiences in the coming years.
