Apisai Ketenilagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), effective January 2, 2025, for a three-year term. His appointment comes from the FRA Board, in accordance with the Fiji Roads Authority Act of 2012.
To ensure a thorough recruitment process, the Board utilized their internal Procurement Department and collaborated with KPMG in identifying the best candidate for the CEO position. The role was widely advertised, and Ketenilagi was selected based on recommendations from a three-member interview panel comprised of FRA Board members.
Ketenilagi brings over 30 years of experience in road infrastructure engineering, having contributed extensively to various sectors, including highways, rural roads, bridges, and maritime structures, as well as construction and asset maintenance. His credentials are impressive, featuring a Master of Science in Highway Management and Engineering, an International Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering. He is also a respected member of several professional engineering institutions across Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Australasia.
FRA Board Chairman Atunaisa Nayago expressed confidence in Ketenilagi’s capabilities, noting that his extensive background in infrastructure development makes him an ideal leader for FRA. Nayago emphasized the Board’s commitment to ensuring safe and sustainable infrastructure for Fiji, highlighting the optimistic outlook for the FRA’s performance under Ketenilagi’s guidance.
