New Categories Unveiled for PM’s Business Awards: What to Expect?

New categories have been introduced for this year’s Prime Minister’s International Business Awards, set to take place on Saturday, November 30, at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort on Denarau Island in Nadi. Businesses have until the end of the month to apply for the 15 categories that will be featured in the 2024 awards.

Investment Fiji CEO Kamal Chetty announced that these awards will highlight significant areas of excellence, with new categories including the Excellence in Employer Award, Excellence in Fisheries Award, Excellence in Forestry Award, and the Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration Award. He emphasized that adding these categories broadens the awards’ scope and allows for the recognition of outstanding achievements in vital sectors.

Launched last month, this year’s event carries the theme “Business Innovation and Sustainability.” Organizers have described the response to the application call as “impressive.” Mr. Chetty remarked that the focus on innovation and sustainability reflects the commitment to encouraging businesses to embrace sustainable practices while achieving success.

He noted their excitement over a notable number of first-time applicants sharing their success stories, underscoring the awards’ role in recognizing innovation and excellence in the business community. He urged businesses yet to submit their applications to do so promptly, highlighting the importance of gaining recognition and connecting with industry leaders.

The 15 award categories this year include the Supreme Award, Premier Large Business Operating Internationally Award, Premier Medium Business Operating Internationally Award, Premier Small Business Operating Internationally Award, Excellence in Innovation Award, Excellence in E-Commerce Transformation Award, Excellence in Service Award, Agri-Business Innovation Award, Excellence in Fisheries Award, Excellence in Forestry Award, Executive of the Year Award, Employer of the Year Award, Best Sustainability Initiative Award, Excellence in Outsourcing Award, and Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration Award.
