A new 30-seater catamaran named Gosal Cruisers is set to launch at the Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa, aimed at enhancing local tourism and commerce on Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second-largest island. The vessel, which has a cruising speed of approximately 35 knots and is staffed by a three-person crew, was transported in a container from China. It is the first catamaran of its kind in the region.

Charan Jeath Singh, the vessel’s owner and Fiji’s Sugar Minister, expressed his optimism about the impact the catamaran will have on the community. He noted that it would stimulate economic activity, allowing locals to sell food and cultural artifacts, thereby providing them with additional financial support. Singh referred to the launch, scheduled for December 20, as an early Christmas gift for the people of Vanua Levu.

The Gosal Cruisers, valued at $1 million, will operate daily sightseeing cruises. Departing from the Grand Eastern Hotel jetty at 9:30 AM, it will offer trips to various picturesque locations, including Kia, Mali, Druadrua, Vorovoro, Savusavu, and adjacent islands.

This initiative not only enhances the tourism landscape of Vanua Levu but also provides a platform for local artisans and food vendors to thrive, potentially revitalizing the area’s economy. The arrival of Gosal Cruisers is a promising development for both residents and visitors looking to experience the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Fiji.
