New Caledonia Shines in OFC U-16 Women’s Championship Semifinal Victory!

New Caledonia secured a place in the semifinals of the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Suva with a 3-1 victory over Tahiti.

The match saw Kinë Hmaen score the opening goal in the 36th minute, taking advantage of a defensive blunder from Tahiti. Though Tahiti quickly sought to equalize, Lydie Gendron was unable to capitalize on a promising opportunity.

After the break, Tahiti had a chance to level the score, but Kunuhei’s effort was flagged for offside. The Tahitian team continued to press forward, with captain Maerehia Dehors sending a shot narrowly wide from outside the box.

New Caledonia extended their lead in the 69th minute when substitute Bernadette Nyikeine scored, assisted by Hmaen. Tahiti responded just four minutes later, with Vaiuta Pani reducing the deficit by scoring after a one-on-one with New Caledonia’s goalkeeper, Elizabeth Aben.

Despite their efforts to find another goal, Tahiti could not change the outcome. Hmaen concluded the match in the 81st minute with a remarkable volley, showcasing her skill and sealing a 3-1 victory for New Caledonia.
