The Ministry of Education has completed the payment for the differences in bus fares to Vodafone Fiji Limited. This follows the implementation of new bus fares on September 1, 2024. The Ministry reassured parents, guardians, and students that payments were made only after reconciling the tap records for both blue and yellow bus cards.
Verified reconciliation data was submitted to the Ministry in the first week of October. After additional verification according to Ministry guidelines, the fare difference payments were finalized on October 15.
As of September 10, 2024, a total of 103,321 students have benefited from the Transport Assistance Program. Of these, 62,988 students are receiving e-transport through blue subsidized cards, while 40,333 students are getting assistance via RSL transport.
According to the agreement between the Ministry of Education and all stakeholders, the fare difference payments to Vodafone Fiji will occur at the end of each month.
