This morning, five members were sworn into the Truth and Reconciliation Commission at Government House, marking an important step towards fostering national unity in Fiji. The Commission will be chaired by Dr. Marcus Brunt.
The other members appointed to the Commission include:
1. Former judge Sekove Naqiolevu
2. Rachna Nath, a former Fiji TV journalist with a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science
3. Ana Laqeretabua, a life coach company director
4. Retired Fiji Airways Captain, Rajendra Hiralal Dass
The Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission aims to facilitate open dialogue, address historical grievances, and promote healing within the nation. The establishment of the Commission Secretariat is underway, and activities are expected to commence shortly.
This initiative represents a proactive approach to reconciliation in Fiji, providing a platform for citizens to voice their experiences and fostering a more cohesive society. As the Commission begins its work, it holds the potential to shape a brighter future for all Fijians.
