The recent inauguration of the $29 million Ba Court complex signifies a significant development in the judicial efforts to decentralize services and enhance accessibility for citizens. He highlighted that the new facility is equipped with modern amenities, which will alleviate the existing workload of the Ba Court while also ensuring that locals won’t need to travel to Lautoka for High Court cases. The complex will serve a broad jurisdiction including Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, and various locations within Ra Province such as Bukuya and Magodro.

The Prime Minister commended the leadership of Acting Chief Justice Honorable Justice Salesi Temo for establishing a High Court at the new facility, noting that it reinforces the government’s commitment to enhancing legal access. He reiterated the importance of not just having rights but actively exercising them.

Various dignitaries, including senior judiciary members and cabinet ministers attended the event. The new Ba High Court will handle appeals for the Central Agricultural Tribunal, as well as civil, criminal, and family court matters.
