A total of 36 teams have signed up for the inaugural season of the New World IGA Suva Netball Association’s business house mixed netball competition, which began yesterday at the National Netball Center in Laucala. Spanning over six weeks, this tournament offers players ample opportunity to engage fully in this vibrant initiative.
Raijieli Rabitu, the association’s secretary, emphasized the competition’s primary aim: to promote enjoyment, foster networking opportunities, and encourage a healthy lifestyle through netball. She expressed her excitement about the increased participation compared to last year, seeing it as a promising development for the future of the association.
Rabitu encouraged the teams to take full advantage of this opportunity for unity and enjoyment, stating, “This is a great after-work exercise that will improve workers’ health, relieve stress, and allow for fun.” The league serves not just as a platform for a beloved sport but also as a space for players to build relationships while prioritizing their well-being.
This initiative is in line with the Suva Netball Association’s overarching goals of promoting physical health and community involvement. Previous collaborations with sponsors like Newworld IGA have been vital in advancing netball in the region. The uptick in participation this season underscores a collective commitment to strengthening community bonds through sports.
Overall, the competition stands as a beacon of hope for enhancing health and connectivity among business teams, highlighting the beneficial impact that sporting activities can have on everyday life. Such initiatives promote not only fitness and health but also bring communities together, laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
