The eagerly awaited Salad Bowl Netball Festival is scheduled to commence on Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, featuring netball teams from throughout Fiji as well as international competitors.
The tournament will showcase intense competition across the open women, men’s, and U15 divisions, with both local and foreign teams ready to demonstrate their talents.
In the Open Women category, 16 teams are arranged into four pools. Pool A includes Salad Bowl One, Wanderers One, Seniwi, and Gusinawai. Pool B features Salad Bowl Two, Wanderers Two, Angel Stars, and Surf City. Pool C consists of Coastal Magic, Super 7, Tavua, and KAPPL, while Pool D includes Blooms Magic, Huva Stallions, Rising Stars, and Ba River.
The Men’s division promises a similar level of competition, with eight teams divided into two pools. Pool A consists of Salad Bowl One, Highlanders, Blooms Magic, and Tavua, while Pool B features Salad Bowl Two, Namosi, Huva Stallions, and Navosa.
The U15 category highlights emerging talent split between Pool A and Pool B. Pool A includes Angel Stars One, Salad Bowl Development, Huva Stallion, Seniwi, Gusinawai, and Rising Stars. Pool B features Angel Stars Two, Salad Bowl Swifts, Blooms Magic, Seniwi Green, Henitaveti, and Huva Stallions Two.
Judy Kumar, president of Salad Bowl Netball, explained that the festival aims to give teams more opportunities to compete beyond their regular club seasons.
With participation from various regions of Fiji as well as international teams, including those from Australia, the Salad Bowl Netball Festival is set to be an exciting celebration of netball talent, bringing the local netball community together for a day filled with competitive, high-energy matches.
