The Fiji Primary and Secondary Schools Netball Associations have entered into a partnership with Goodman Fielder Fiji, aimed at promoting healthy and active lifestyles among young Fijians through netball. This collaboration will focus on enhancing grassroots netball initiatives throughout the country, encouraging more youth participation in the sport.
The signing ceremony took place at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva, with representatives from both the netball associations and Goodman Fielder in attendance. Navitalai Naivalu, president of the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its alignment with the mission to cultivate a culture of health and fitness among young athletes. Naivalu stated, “We are thrilled to have Goodman Fielder’s support in fostering the growth of netball at the primary and secondary school levels.”
Goodman Fielder is committed to significantly bolstering the development of netball by providing essential resources and support to schools and youth programs. This partnership follows previous sponsorship efforts by Goodman Fielder, where they have already contributed financially to grassroots tournaments and offered nutritional support, such as providing free chicken and eggs to schools, particularly those in outer islands.
This latest initiative exemplifies a growing commitment to not only nurturing local talent but also ensuring that the sporting infrastructure in Fiji becomes a solid foundation for future generations of athletes. There is palpable optimism that, with the right support and resources, upcoming tournaments and competitions can see increased participation and interest in netball amongst young Fijians.
By fostering such partnerships, there is a hopeful outlook towards enhancing the pipeline of talent that could represent Fiji at national levels in the future. The ongoing collaboration underscores the importance of community support in sports development, which can lead to fruitful outcomes for the youth involved.
