The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be unveiled next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the occasion. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad highlighted that the launch represents the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
“Our National Development Plan will be launched on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad stated. He emphasized the nation’s potential to become prosperous within the next 25 to 30 years, but cautioned that this goal cannot be achieved by maintaining the status quo.
He noted the importance of political stability, consistent policy, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable governance approach. The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which is expected to build on the insights gained from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and findings from the Education Summit.
“We are confident as a Government that we will leave a legacy – regardless of our time in power – of a political culture and leadership that facilitates peaceful, transparent transitions of government,” Mr. Prasad remarked.
