The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad emphasized that the launch will mark the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political growth.
“Our National Development Plan will be inaugurated on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad stated. He highlighted the nation’s potential to achieve wealth within the next 25 to 30 years, stressing that this goal cannot be reached if the status quo continues.
“For us to progress, we need political stability, consistency in policy, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach,” he noted. The Ministry of Finance is leading the initiative and plans to incorporate insights from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee’s report, and the outcomes of the Education Summit.
Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the government would establish a legacy characterized by a political culture and leadership that ensures peaceful, transparent, and accountable transitions between administrations.
