The Nawaka Black men’s rugby team is set to take on the challenges of the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s tournament as the host team. Despite facing recent difficulties, team manager Josua Lorima has expressed gratitude for the perseverance and determination shown by the players, especially following their recent victory over the Lomati team with a score of 30-5 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Lorima acknowledged the team’s need to improve their fitness in preparation for this significant tournament, which is part of the 11th Fiji Bitter 7s leg. He thanked the players for their hard work and the progress they’ve made despite the obstacles faced in recent weeks and months. “We would like to acknowledge the wins we have got and would like to thank the Lord and the players for enduring the struggles,” said Lorima.

In a positive outlook towards the upcoming matches, he emphasized the importance of taking things one game at a time: “We will take each game as it comes and we don’t want to keep our hopes up.” The Nawaka Black team is grouped in Pool 16 alongside other teams, including Lomati Rugby, Duiyasana, and Nasavusavu Youth 2.

The Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s not only stands as a platform for exhilarating rugby but also plays a vital role in fostering community spirit and unity through sport. With the tournament expected to draw in a large crowd of supporters, it exemplifies the enduring passion for rugby in Fiji. As the teams compete, they embody the hope and enthusiasm that rugby brings to both players and fans alike, highlighting the significance of grassroots initiatives in nurturing local talent.

As we look forward to the continuation of this tournament, it serves as a testament to the resilience of the Nawaka Black team and their community support, setting a hopeful tone for the sport’s future in the region.
