Captain Kolinio Sivoki scored a stunning free-kick in the second half, leading Navua to a 2-1 victory over Rewa in the second Super Premier semifinal of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship held at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Rewa faced a significant challenge as they were without their star player, John Urobulu, due to a visa issue. Despite this setback, Rewa’s Samuela Kautoga opened the scoring just before halftime with a well-taken goal.
Navua, coached by Saiyad Ali, displayed a strong counter-attacking strategy. They earned a penalty when Usaia Tilivarua was fouled in the box, but Jared Rongosulia’s penalty kick was dramatically saved by Rewa’s goalkeeper, Jolame Domonikibau.
The second half saw Navua surge back into the game, with Simione Damuni equalizing in the 47th minute after a mix-up among the Rewa defenders. Sivoki then displayed his skills in the 74th minute, executing a powerful free-kick that flew into the top of the net, leaving the Rewa players and fans shocked.
Despite efforts from Rewa to find an equalizer, Navua’s defense, anchored by Sivoki, goalkeeper Jovilisi Borisi, Arami Manumanubai, and Filipe Baravilala, held strong, securing their place in the final.
Navua will face Labasa in the championship match scheduled for 3 PM.
