Navua police misconduct video sparks investigation and accountability push

A CCTV video circulating on social media claims to show inappropriate conduct by a police officer while on duty. In response, Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga has described the allegations associated with the incident at Navua Police Station as serious, prompting him to call for an immediate investigation.

Lutunauga emphasized the importance of the police uniform, stating it symbolizes hope and trust within the community. He stressed that officers must not exploit the authority that their positions grant them. Should the investigation confirm the allegations, the Acting Commissioner vowed to pursue appropriate disciplinary measures against the officer involved.

Furthermore, Lutunauga encouraged the public to report any instances of police corruption or misconduct, reiterating that police officers, despite their powers, are not above the law.
