The Internal Affairs Department has completed its investigation into a Navua Police officer featured in a widely shared social media video. Investigators found that the woman in the footage provided a signed statement categorically denying any instances of sexual harassment or coercion by the officer in question.
As a result of her testimony, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu announced that the criminal allegation of sexual harassment has been dismissed. Nevertheless, he emphasized that inquiries into the officer’s professional conduct will proceed.
Commissioner Tudravu reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to holding officers accountable for actions that do not meet police standards, indicating that disciplinary measures will be implemented when required. He highlighted that maintaining public trust is fundamental to the police force’s mission, and it is crucial for every officer to consistently embody the values and ethics of the institution.
