“Navua Legends Triumph in First Match: Road to Victory Begins”

Navua Legends had a strong start in their first match of the RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament 2024, defeating Labasa Masters 2-1 at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The team dominated possession in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead against Labasa.

However, Labasa managed to equalize in the second half, creating a tense atmosphere in the game, but Navua remained determined and scored a last-minute goal to secure the victory.

President Salen Autar expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, praising their efforts in the match.

“It was really a good match, the boys did their best in the first match,” said Autar.

“We have a mixture of Navua representatives in the team like Pene Erenio, Ashwin Chand, and Thomas Wise, we got a good team.

“We will now focus on our other matches, and our main objective is to reach the final and win and take the trophy back to Navua.”

Autar also extended his gratitude to major sponsor Twins Kava for their support, allowing the Navua Veterans the opportunity to compete in the tournament.

Meanwhile, in other results: Nasinu Masters-Suva Combine 1-1, Rewa Masters-Suva 2-0.

The finals will take place on Sunday, as a curtain raiser for the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants, at HFC Bank Stadium.
