“Navua Legends Eye Victory in RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament 2024”

Navua Legends kicked off the RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament 2024 with a strong performance, defeating Labasa Masters 2-1 at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The team controlled possession in the first half, securing a 1-0 lead over Labasa. Despite Labasa equalizing in the second half, creating a tense atmosphere, Navua clinched the victory with a last-minute goal.

President Salen Autar expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their efforts in the match. “It was really a good match, the boys did their best in the first match,” said Autar. He mentioned the team’s strong lineup, including players like Pene Erenio, Ashwin Chand, and Thomas Wise, stating they have a solid team.

“We will now focus on our other matches, and our main objective is to reach the final and win and take the trophy back to Navua,” he added.

Autar also thanked major sponsor Twins Kava for their support, which enabled the Navua Veterans to compete in the tournament.

In other results: Nasinu Maters-Suva Combine ended 1-1, and Rewa Master defeated Suva 2-0.

The finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday, serving as a curtain raiser for the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants at HFC Bank Stadium.
