Former Navua football players are rallying behind their district team as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 BiC Fiji FACT tournament starting this Friday in Suva. Penaia Latianara, a notable player from the 2003 Fiji FACT championship-winning squad, has expressed a strong sense of hope and support for the current team.

Latianara is joined by other distinguished former players, including Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, and they are confident that Navua will reclaim the trophy that has eluded them since 2003. “The Tui Namosi is behind the team as well as we, the former Navua soccer players. The team is camping in one villa in Pacific Harbour. Sunday I was there with the team,” stated Latianara. In emphasizing the team’s aspirations, he shared the uplifting message from Tui Namosi: “We will get the Cup this year. So, to the Navua boys and the entire team, give it your best. The vanua of Namosi and Serua are hopeful.”

Navua has been placed in Pool A, commonly referred to as the “pool of death,” alongside Rewa, Ba, and the defending champions, Lautoka. Despite the tough competition, Latianara remains optimistic about Navua’s chances. The team’s first match will be against Lautoka at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with all matches scheduled to occur at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva through Sunday. The tournament will progress to the semi-finals and finals on June 7-8.

Latianara’s faith in the capability of the current Navua squad reflects a community united in hope and ambition. With much anticipation surrounding the tournament, fans and former players alike look forward to witnessing a spirited campaign from the team, matching the legacy of their predecessors.

As the 2025 Fiji FACT tournament approaches, it represents not just a chance for victory but also an occasion for camaraderie among players and supporters, fueling a shared dream of success for Navua football.
